Identification of key immune mediators regulating T helper 1 responses in swine.
Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 2004, Volume 100, Nº1-2, 105-111
The results reported in this paper are to be linked with a previous study which had demonstrated that infection of swine with Toxoplasma gondii induced a Th1-associated response dominated by interferon-gamma (IFNγ) gene expression. In the present study, real-time PCR assays were developed for monitoring the expression of Th1 upstream regulators as well as other proteins involved in the immune response following experimental infested of pigs with T. gondii oocysts and subsequent analysis of mesenteric lymph node and liver samples. These assays proved useful for a better understanding of immune response pathway and Th1 gene regulation in swine.
