Sérologie ELISA (enzyme linked immunosorbant assay) chez des porcs plurivaccinés avec un vaccin SDRP inactivé [Enzyme linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA) response in sera of pigs repeatedly vaccinated with a PRRS killed vaccine].
Association Française de Médecine Vétérinaire Porcine, 2004, 168-169

This study was carried out in order to lighten a controversy which had raised upon whether high titers of ELISA antibodies to PRRSV resulted from vaccination or infection. The particular situation and management practices of the farm chosen for this study as well as the long history of absence of both clinical signs and lab results related to PRRS infection allowed to consider the herd as PRRS negative. Sixty piglets of 8 weeks of age were distributed into two groups: 40 piglets were vaccinated several times with Progressis® (PRRS killed vaccine, Merial, Lyon) and 20 were kept as controls. The serological responses of all piglets were evaluated by ELISA and PRRSV infection was investigated by PCR. All non-vaccinated animals remained seronegative by ELISA and PCR. All vaccinated animals were seropositive by ELISA but remained seronegative by PCR. These results clearly indicate that antibodies to PRRSV in vaccinated animals were induced by vaccination.
