The E2 glycoprotein of classical swine fever virus is a virulence determinant in swine.
Journal of Virology, 2005, Volume 79, N°6, 3787-3796
Chimeras of the highly pathogenic Brescia strain and attenuated vaccine strain CS were used to identify genetic determinants of classical swine fever virus (CSFV) virulence and host range. The CSFV E2 glycoprotein was clearly demonstrated to be a major determinant of virulence in swine.
