Experimental infection of pigs with European-like (type 1) PRRS virus isolates of U.S. origin.
Proceedings of the International PRRS Symposium, December 2005, poster n°42
Four European-type PRRSV isolated in the US were each inoculated intranasally to eight. Acute lesions were evaluated in three pigs of each group and clinical signs, viremia, antibody response and persistence were investigated for 12 weeks. All sera failed to neutralize selected North American PRRSV isolates and neutralized only partially other European-type PRRSV, including the Lelystad virus.
