Ricerca di Torque Teno Virus (TTV) in suini allevati in Italia [Detection of Torque Teno Virus (TTV) in Italian pig herds].
Società Italiana di Patologia ed Allevamento dei Suini - Proceedings, 2006, 339-347
Torque Teno virus (TTV) was first identified in human in 1997 and for the time being classified as an Anellovirus. Since then, TTV was also detected in animals, including swine. In the present study, a screening was carried out in 179 healthy swine from 10 Italian herds using the PCR method in order to evaluate the prevalence of TTV in swine herds of Northern Italy. Out of the 179 tested animals, 43 (24%) originating from 8 of the included herds resulted positive for TTV. Prevalence of TTV resulted significantly higher in fattening herds (40,1%) than in farrow-to-finish herds (11%).
