Les étapes obligées d'un nettoyage optimal [the essential steps for an optimal cleansing].
Réussir Porcs, 2006, 124, 38-39
The French Swine Technical Institute (ITP) proposes an optimal cost-effective protocol for cleansing-disinfection of swine facilities consisting of six steps:
- Soaking: to wet dirt and make it easier to remove, this initial step should last 12 hours so as to save time and money on the following steps.
- Detergent cleansing: to act on organic matter and eliminate biofilms.
- High pressure cleansing: to remove organic matter, a minimum pressure of 150 bars is required with an outflow of 20-25l/mn.
- Manure removal and pit cleansing: to improve decontamination of the premises. This step requires a subsequent rinsing (low pressure but high outflow) of the facilities with particular care to the floor.
- Foam disinfection: foam allows a prolonged contact time and improves disinfectant penetration, the use of foam lance is more product and time-saving compared to pulverization.
- Drying: to leave facilities empty for several days following sanitation is not sufficient to ensure an appropriate drying, much better results in terms of bacterial decontamination are obtained with the use of an aerotherm heat drying system (at least 48 hours).
