Allemagne porcine: la révolution AutoFom [German swine production: the AutoFom revolution].
Porc Magazine, 2006, 396, 46-63
The Autofom is an automatic non-invasive evaluation system of the quality of swine carcasses based on ultrasonic technology. This innovative system of classification at slaughter has produced drastic changes in the German swine production and even led some farmers from Denmark, Netherlands, or France to sell their production in Germany because of the attractive price the Autofom generates. Since the introduction of the Autofom in German slaughtering houses, German farmers have modified the management of their herds and now adapt genetics and nutrition in relation to the Autofom classification.
