Twenty-week duration of immunity in seropositive piglets with experimental one-injection Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae vaccines.
Proceedings of the 19th IPVS Congress, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2006 - Volume 1:101
Two experimental vaccines against Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infection were tested and compared to an existing vaccine. These inactivated one-shot vaccines contained the same amount of M. hyopneumoniae but different adjuvants (A and B). Piglets born to seropositive sows were selected for the study. After euthanasia of piglets, several methods were used to determine the effects of the experimental vaccines (analysis of lung lesions, porcine IFNγ -ELISpot assay, Mh-specific immunofluorescence and PCR test). The results showed that only the experimental vaccine with adjuvant B conferred a long-term protection against lung lesions caused by infection with M. hyopneumoniae.
