Effect of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae vaccination on the economic performance of pigs co-infected with M. hyopneumoniae and porcine circovirus type 2.
Proceedings of the 19th IPVS Congress, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2006 - Volume 2:225
The aim of this study was to assess the impact of vaccination against Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae on pig performances, in case of a co-infection with M. hyopneumoniae and porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2). M. hyopneumoniae-negative pigs, that had reached market weight, were selected for the study and vaccinated with either Three M. hyo vaccines with various adjuvants. A placebo was administered to the last group. All pigs were then infected both with M. hyopneumoniae and PCV2. The results of this study showed that vaccination at the right time against M. hyopneumoniae was definitely useful to avoid major production losses due to M. hyopneumoniae and PCV2 infection.
