Absence of PCV2-neutralizing antibodies in PMWS-affected pigs.
Proceedings of the 19th IPVS Congress, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2006 - Volume 1:175
The aim of this study was to determine if porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2)-neutralizing antibodies were absent in postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS)-affected pigs. Serum was collected from 13 sub-clinically infected pigs and from 13 PMWS-affected pigs and anti-PCV2 antibody titers were assessed (immunoperoxidase monolayer assay - IPMA). The neutralizing activity was determined thanks to a sensitive seroneutralisation assay. The results showed that PCV2-neutralising antibodies were indeed absent from PCV2-infected pigs suffering from PMWS.
