Prevalence of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome by porcine circovirus 2 in Korea.
Proceedings of the 19th IPVS Congress, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2006 - Volume 2:96

Cases of postweaning multisystemic syndrome (PWMS) were first described in South Korea in 2000. The objective of this retrospective study was to determine whether this disease was already present between 1989 and 2003. Analyses were carried out on 585 archived specimens to detect the presence of various viruses (immunohistochemistry and PCR) and bacteria (bacterial isolation). The results showed that PWMS has been present in South Korea since 1995.
