First isolation and serology to PCV2 in Mexico.
Proceedings of the 19th IPVS Congress, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2006 - Volume 2:86
The objective of this study was to isolate porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) in Mexican herds and to evaluate its prevalence in the country. Tissue samples were collected and analysed in order to isolate and identify the virus, thanks to an immunoperoxidase monolayer assay (IPMA). Serum samples were also collected and tested for PCV2 antibodies (IPMA). The results indicated that PCV2 affected pig herds throughout the country and showed that the virus was present in most tested pigs.
