Circovaccination of the sow herd, a new tool in the control of PCVD.
Merial White Book series, PCVD… Coming Full Circle, 19th IPVS, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2006, 43-56
CIRCOVAC® (Merial), a PCV2 vaccine has now been used in the sows, for a year and a half in two European countries, under provisional licenses. Various studies conducted during this time period showed that this vaccine was safe and efficient and could thus reduce the economical losses experienced by pig producers in case of PCVD outbreaks. In this paper, the authors explained why it is important to vaccinate sows against PCV and summarized the various field studies conducted in France and Germany in view of investigating the safety and efficiency of CIRCOVAC®.
