Field evaluation of the efficacy of a PRRS inactivated vaccine Progressis® in the Czech Republic conditions.
Proceedings of the 19th IPVS Congress, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2006 - Volume 2:68
The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of an inactivated vaccine against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) in a Czech pig herd affected by this disease. A PRRS-positive farm was selected for the study and all sows were vaccinated twice with PROGRESSIS®, Merial, (except sows that were about to farrow). Sows received a booster injection later on. Various parameters were assessed and statistical analyses were carried out (one-way ANOVA, Kruskall-Wallis analysis and exact or Yates Fisher's tests). The results indicated that vaccination reduced abortion and stillbirth rates and increased litter size, thus controlling reproductive disorders and resulting in a better productivity.
