Effect of the number of booster vaccinations of an inactivated PRRSV vaccine on sow health status.
Proceedings of the 19th IPVS Congress, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2006 - Volume 2:49
This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of an inactivated vaccine against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) when used on a long-term basis. A closed farrow-to-finish Greek farm affected by endemic PRRS was selected for the study. All sows were vaccinated twice with the PROGRESSIS® (Merial) vaccine and received a booster injection during each subsequent gestation. Reproductive information and litter features were then monitored. Statistical analyses were also carried out (one-way ANOVA). The results showed that vaccination with PROGRESSIS® was very efficient when the vaccine was administered regularly.
