The effect of long-term vaccination of sows with a PRRSV inactivated vaccine on their litter characteristics.
Proceedings of the 19th IPVS Congress, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2006 - Volume 2:48

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of an inactivated vaccine against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) virus on litters, when used on a long-term basis. A farrow-to-finish farm affected by endemic PRRS was selected for the study. All sows were vaccinated twice with PROGRESSIS® (Merial) and received a booster injection during each subsequent gestation, during 18 months. Data was analysed every 6 months (one-way ANOVA) in order to know what were the effects of vaccination on litter characteristics. The results showed that vaccination with PROGRESSIS® had positive effects on the litters, especially when administered on a long-term basis.
