Proceedings of the 19th IPVS Congress, Copenhagen, Denmark, 2006 - Volume 2:121
The objective of this Polish study was to define the pathogen having caused an outbreak of swine influenza in a pig farm. Sera and blood samples were collected from pigs for analysis, along with nasal swabs and lungs. Aborted fetuses and weak neonatal piglets were also studied. The analyses consisted in histopathology, haemagglutination inhibition test, virus isolation in embryonated chicken eggs and haemagglutination tests, n-PCR and mPCRs. The results of these analyses showed that the causative agent was H1N1 subtype of swine influenza virus.
