Evolución y perspectivas en la producción porcina de China.
Proceedings of the International Symposium on Pig Health and Production (SEPOR), 2006, 7-13
This paper describes the evolution of pig production in China and its current characteristics. The author explains how pig production has recently developed in this country, mostly during the past 20 years. China is now the first pig producer in the world, but also the first consumer of pig meat. In the coming years, China will most likely still be the first pig meat producer, as the Chinese pig production system is continuously improving. It will also most probably increase its exports and imports of pig meat. China will however have to face some difficulties, especially in terms of hygiene, disease control and safety of pig products. Other factors could also limit its capacity to develop pig production further.
