Age-dependent seroprevalence of antibodies against a Helicobacter pylori-like organism and Helicobacter pylori in commercially reared swine.
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 2006, Volume 67, Nº11, 1890-1894
The objective of this study was to define the prevalence of antibodies against Helicobacter pylori-like organism and Helicobacter pylori in pigs. Archived sera were used for this study, along with sera collected on 20 sows and 35 gnotobiotic pigs. Antibodies were detected by use of an ELISA test. The results showed that infections with Helicobacter pylori-like organism and H. pylori were common among commercially reared pigs but that seroprevalence was low during the suckling period and tended to increase regularly after weaning.
