Evaluation of a new transdermal M. hyopneumoniae bacterin to control mycoplasmal pneumoni in pigs experimentally co-infected with PRRSV and M. hyopneumoniae.

Merial Limited recently developed a M. hyopneumoniae bacterin designed to be administered with the transdermal needle-free injection system DERMA-VAC® in order to reduce the potentiation of PRRSV-induced pneumonia by M. hyopneumoniae in co-infected pigs. The effect of vaccination was evaluated using an experimental challenge protocol including 66 pigs distributed as follow:
