Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) distribution and replication in tissues and immune cells in early infected pigs.
Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 2007, Volume 115, Nº3-4, 261-272
The levels of PCV2 Cap mRNA and viral DNA were determined in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) cells and various tissues from pigs experimentally infected with PCV2. An improved understanding of PCV2 replication pattern was achieved: PBMCs did not result as a major site for PCV2 replication indicating that blood is only a transient phase for PCV2. By contrast, the B lymphocyte population appears to be a potential key component for PCV2 early replication.
