Field results of the use of Circovac® A sow PCV2 vaccine in France under provisional license
Proceedings of the 5th International Symposium on Emerging and Re-emerging Pig Diseases, 2007, 125
The purpose of this study was to investigate on a large scale the impact of sow vaccination with Circovac®, a PCV2 vaccine under provisional license in France in 2004. This study involved 24 French swine herds, for a total of about 160,000 pigs. The data records from the French "Gestion technico-économique" (technico-economic management - veterinary costs, mortality at different stages, ADWG at different stages, feed conversion ratio) were used to assess the results of Circovac® vaccination. The results of this study showed that Circovac® vaccination significantly reduced mortality throughout the pig's life and improved growth. These results are in line with those obtained in other countries.
