Biomin® pHD

One of the hidden causes for sow fertility problems are bacterial infections in the urogenital tract. Around 15 % of sows suffer from urinary tract infections (UTI's) and in problem herds the level could reach up to 40 %. UTI's are considered as predisposing factor for the upper genital tract inflammations, which also lead to Postpartum Disgalactia Syndrome (PPDS). Consequentially it leads to increased non-productive days, early cullings and decreased litters/sow/year.

Biomin® pHD is a urinary tract acidifier, based on a combination of an inorganic acid, blend of anionic substances and natural plant extracts. The effect of Biomin® pHD is triggered by two mechanisms: the modification of the anion and cation balance (ACB) of the diet and anti-adhesion effect. The alteration of ACB of diet decreases urinary pH creating unfavorable conditions for pathogenic bacteria and stimulates the ability to mobilize calcium, which is essential for muscle contraction at farrowing. The active substances of plant extracts inhibit the adhesion of pathogenic bacteria, especially E. coli to urinary tract cell walls.

Biomin® pHD is indicated to improve sows productivity by reducing risk of UTI`s, metritis, repeat breeder, none-productive days and still borns.
