DENAGARD 10 % Injection


DENAGARD 10 % Injection is used for the following:
  • Swine dysentery caused by Brachyspia hyodysenteriae complicated by Fusobacterium spp. and Bacteroides spp.
  • Enzootic pneumonia complex caused by M. hyopneumoniae and where the secondary bacteria are sensitive to tiamulin.
  • For the treatment of arthritis caused by Mycoplasma hyosynoviae to reduce lameness and restore growth performance.

Denagard® 10% Injection for Pigs

Product Type

Antibiotic injectable intended for therapeutic use in pigs.

Description and Composition

DENAGARD Injection is a clear, pale yellow, oily sterile solution for intramuscular administration to pigs. 1 ml DENAGARD 10% Injection contains tiamulin base (100mg) equivalent to 123mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate.

Properties

Tiamulin is a bacteriostatic agent, belonging to the group of pleuromutilins. It has a wide spectrum of activity but is particularly active against Brachyspira, Lawsonia and Mycoplasma species. Unlike other antibiotics intended for medication in animals, tiamulin belongs to a category which is not used in human medicine.

Indications

Treatment of swine dysentery, swine pneumonia complex, mycoplasmal arthritis and pleuropneumonia in swine.

Dosage and administration

DENAGARD injection should be applied by deep intramuscular injection in the shoulder, buttock or neck of infected swine.
  • Swine dysentery: Target dose 8 mg tiamulin base / kg bw (approx. equivalent to 10 mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate / kg bw) once a day for a period of 1-2 days.
  • Porcine Respiratory Disease complex (PRDC): Target dose 12.3 mg tiamulin base / kg bw (approx. equivalent to 15 mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate / kg bw) once a day for a period of 3 consecutive days.
  • Mycoplasmal arthritis of swine: Target dose 12.3 mg tiamulin base / kg bw (approx. equivalent to 15 mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate / kg bw) once a day for a period of 3 consecutive days.
  • Pleuropneumonia: Target dose 12.3 mg tiamulin base / kg bw (approx. equivalent to 15 mg tiamulin hydrogen fumarate / kg bw) once a day for a period of 3 consecutive days.

Withdrawal Periods

Withdrawal periods according to national registrations.

Special Precautions and Warnings

Do not administer ionophore anticoccidials (salinomycin, monensin, narasin) to pigs receiving therapeutic doses of DENAGARD. Pigs should not receive feed containing ionophores during or for at least seven days before or after treatment with DENAGARD 10% Injection
