Temporary Control Zone established in Solihull, 100 miles from Egham

UK - This afternoon Defra has confirmed that a Temporary Control Zone has been put around one premises in Solihull as a precautionary measure.

This action follows an assessment of clinical symproms by Animal Health veterinary staff, laboratory test results are awaited.

Defra have stated that at this stage the disease has not been confirmed and the containment and eradication of FMD is their top priority.

Defra have reiterated that it is essential for animal keepers to practice the highest standards of biosecurity, remain vigilant for disease and report any suspicions immediately.
