Chilean Inspectors Arrive in Brazil

BRAZIL - A delegation of government officials and veterinarians from Chile, arrived in San Paulo on Thursday, to spend the next two weeks inspecting the beef plants.

According to the Argentine Beefpackers S.A., the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, believe that their states should now be eligible to export to Chile, after bans were put in place after foot-and-mouth-disease in 2001.

The Chilean market has been serviced from Argentina, and from JBS-Swift in Australia in recent times.

The beef market in Chile is very big from October to April each year.
