South Korea Reports One New Outbreak Of FMD
19 April 2011SOUTH KOREA - The South Korean veterinary authorities have reported one new outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the Gyeongbuk province.
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 17 yesterday, 18 April.
The affected population comprises swine. A total of 67 animals were found susceptible, out of which 6 cases were identified. The 6 affected animals were destroyed.
Routine vaccination against FMD for pigs and cattle has been implemented, the report states.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
