Angry Sick Pig

We have a hamster that is about 40 lbs right now. His head and legs are swollen. When he lays down he can't get back up on his own. He is still eatting. At first we thought that he had gotten bitten by a snake. It has been a week now and he is getting worse. We started peniclin shots but really don't know what to do. I would be thankful for any advice that anyone has. Thanks!
