Default Incest ??

My boar won't mate with his sister and the locals her think it's a bad idea. I tried to get "regumate" for my pigs here in NY USA but couldn't but I got some "PG 600" {Inovec} need to order from vet comes in a 5 single dose pack about $50.00 . It's a shot to bring a sow into heat in 5-7 days to help with AI They saw you should have a boar in a pen next to the sows when AI ing to help her take. Mark

Some brothers and sisters do mate particularly if you have them in a pen together growing for bacon. I dont suppose a one off is a problem. But it should nto be used on a regular basis. I would be happy to see son and Dam and daughter and Boar. This would be my preferance. but If a bother and sister breed then you need to make sure it only happens once. You then need to use a different set of genetics for the rest of the breeding in the line.

Inbreeding may cause abnormality in the offspring. It may leads to either physical deformity or low performance.
