Foot And Mouth Disease In The UK - Summary

Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment Richard Lochhead has outlined a £25 million aid package to help Scottish farmers and crofters recover from the recent foot and mouth outbreak. But Scotland’s farm union are not completely satisfied with the response. The NFUS spelt out the next steps in the fight for full foot and mouth compensation.

President Jim McLaren said: "We simply need a compensation package and we have been told that Treasury’s door is open to approaches in exceptional circumstances and once the full picture is better known."
