IRELAND - IFA Pigs Chairman Michael Maguire said market intelligence shows that processors are receiving 20% more for pigmeat products compared to January 08, however they have only increased pig prices by 13 per cent.


France Calls for End to Lower Quality Imports
FRANCE - In a memorandum to the European Union Farm Council, France is calling for an end to the distortion of competition that takes place when imports are allowed into Europe from countries with lower standards, according to the UK's National Pig Association.

PIC PIC: $18m Genetic Nucleus, Apex Construction Begins
US - Global pig genetics leader Pig Improvement Company (PIC) began construction of a new genetic nucleus farm in Campbell County, South Dakota, USA. Construction began in April and is expected to be completed by February 2009. Stocking is anticipated to begin in the autumn of 2008.
