Analysis of the records of separate sire and dam lines of one breed has shown up genetic links between piglet survival, litter size and production traits, offering the hope of improving survival through breeding. The results were presented by Dagmar Kapell at a special event prior to the latest JSR Technical Conference, and reported here by ThePigSite editor, Jackie Linden.

This is the first evidence of long-distance airborne transmission of porcine reproductive respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, writes Janet Alsop, OMAFRA.

Use of Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles (DDGS) in Swine Diets
DDGS can be fed at levels up to 30 per cent of the diet for growing pigs over 7kg, and up to 50 per cent in the feed for pregnant sows, acccording to Professor J. Shurson of the University of Minnesota and co-workers.
