Welcome to this week's newsletter
This week, several reports have been published on the prospects for the global pig industry. In the current world economic crisis, the majority make gloomy reading.
Whole Hog Brief, for example, reports that Canadian pig inventories continue to slide, and prospects in the European Union are uncertain. US pork production, however, is expected to be higher this year than last.
One expert asserts that freer trading regulations would increase global agriculture trading, bringing estimated worldwide benefits of $165 billion a year. Pig producers and processors would benefit from a share of that pay-out, writes ThePigSite Editor, Jackie Linden.
