Streptococcal Infections

(290) As disease causing organisms streptococci are not important in breeding females. However they are prolonged carriers of potential pathogens both on the tonsils and in the respiratory tract. The skin and vagina are also other sources. Streptococci cause diseases in the sucking pig including meningitis, arthritis and septicaemia's and ascending metritis in the female.
