Protozoan Diseases

(510) Protozoa are small single celled organisms that are found in the small and large intestine. There are four found in the pig of any significance, including coccidia, balantidium coli, cryptosporidia and toxoplasma. Of these, coccidia are the only one of importance and then normally only in the young pig. (Fig.11-11).
