(618) Figures 14-3 and 14-4 highlight signs of deficiencies and excesses documented in the literature. In practice today, using modern well formulated premixes, problems with most of the individual nutrients would be uncommon or rare. Problems usually only occur due to gross mismanagement in the preparation of the premixes, prolonged storage under adverse conditions, the failure to add nutrients over a prolonged period of time or incorrect mixing.The roles of energy and protein in disease generally have already been highlighted but there are a number of specific conditions that are initiated by faulty feeding in one form or another.
