Dynamics of seroconversion to PCV2, PPV and PRRSV in PMWS affected and PMWS free herds in Poland.
PODGORSKA K, STADEJEK T
As it was suggested that porcine parvovirus (PPV) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) were factors contributing to the development of postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PWMS), the seroconversion against porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2), PPV and PRRSV was studied in pigs aged from 7 to 80 days in Polish herds affected by and free from PMWS (3 farrow-to-finish farms affected by PMWS and 3 not affected). Seroconversion to PCV2 was detected by immunoperoxidase monolayer assay (IPMA), PPV antibodies were detected by Ingezim PPV ELISA and seroconversion to PRRSV was detected by indirect in-house ELISA. The results indicated that PMWS could be associated with lower levels of maternal antibodies to PCV2. In addition, no relation between the clinical manifestations of PMWS and PPV/PRRSV infection could be observed in this study.
