This publication details the latest national statistics produced by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the slaughter of cattle, sheep and pigs, dressed carcase weights and meat production taken from surveys of slaughterhouses run by the UK Agricultural Departments.

UK Slaughter Statistics

UK clean pig slaughterings for February 2013 were 783,000 head and mutton and lamb production was 26,000 tonnes.

UK clean pig slaughterings were 0.1 per cent higher than in November 2011 at 830 thousand head.

UK clean pig slaughterings were 1.0 per cent higher than in October 2011 at 1004 thousand head.

UK clean pig slaughterings were 3.1 per cent higher than in August 2011 at 782 thousand head.

UK clean pig slaughterings for July 2012 were 964,000 head and pig meat production was 78,000 tonnes.

UK clean pig slaughterings for June 2012 were 741,000 head and pig meat production was 61,000 tonnes.

UK clean pig slaughterings were 6 per cent higher than in May 2011 at 753 thousand head.

UK clean pig slaughterings for April 2012 were 934,000 head and pig meat production was 76,000 tonnes.

UK clean pig slaughterings for March 2012 were 771,000 head and pig meat production was 64,000 tonnes.

UK clean pig slaughterings for February 2012 were 767,000 head and pig meat production was 64,000 tonnes.

UK clean pig slaughterings for January 2012 were 943,000 head and pig meat production was 78,000 tonnes.

UK clean pig slaughterings for December 2011 were 747,000 head and pig meat production was 61,000 tonnes.
