Pig slaughterings in January 2012 increased by 12.8%.

Pig slaughterings increased by 12.8%.

A comparison of January 2011 and 2012 figures also shows that

  • The number of cattle slaughtered in January 2012 was 3.1% higher than in January 2011. [For Tale 1, please download the document]
  • Sheep slaughterings increased by 15.5%.

Comparing EU figures for the periods January to November 2010 and January to November 2011, Ireland showed a 0.6% decrease in sheep slaughterings while of the major EU sheep producing countries, the United Kingdom, France and Spain recorded increases of 4.6%, 2.7% and 0.7% respectively. During the same period Greece recorded a decrease of 1.1%.
