Print This Page CAPS raises stink over pork processing facility in Glanbrook
CANADA - Eleanor Giacomazza is fighting for her home. A member of the Citizens Against Pig Slaughterhouses (CAPS), the retired teacher is afraid if Maple Leaf Foods is allowed to build a pork processing facility at the North Glanbrook Industrial site, her Albion Falls Boulevard neighbourhood and home will be subjected to noise, odour, water and traffic problems."I'm concerned about my health," she said. Her nicely kept home, with a green garden in the backyard where she has lived with her husband for 25 years, would be, she argued, in the path of any odours from a pork facility.
The neighbourhood had to live with a the smells from a poultry farm on Dickenson Road, until it was eventually closed down.
"We don't want to move. This is our home. But I don't want to become a prisoner unable to go outside."
