Boehringer Ingelheim Offers PRRS Profiling In The New Year
MISSOURI - Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI) is offering swine producers diagnostic profiling services to protect pigs from porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS).
The BIVI diagnostic profiling service can accurately assess the exposure pattern of the PRRS virus and determine if vaccine use can help reduce the economic impact of a PRRS infection in a herd. Large commercial field trials have shown that vaccinating healthy growing pigs can aid in the reduction of PRRS-induced disease during the growing-finishing stage, resulting in increased feed efficiency and average daily gain and reduced mortality.
The use of profiling phases of production and exposure to the PRRS virus can determine if there is a need to vaccinate pigs that may need PRRS protection later in life.
Ingelvac® PRRS ATP and Ingelvac® PRRS MLV aid in the reduction of PRRS-induced disease when administered to healthy, yet susceptible swine four weeks prior to field virus exposure.
Producers wanting to take advantage of the diagnostic profiling services should call Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. at 800-325-9167. Diagnostic services offer available for a limited time.
