Print This Page EU pig price average moves 9c ahead of Ireland
IRELAND - Pig prices are unchanged this week. The price range is from €1.26 to €1.35 in most plants, with a 6c/kg bonus for welfare pigs.IFA sources say that because factory throughput is back 3,000 head on the corresponding week last year, at 46,504, significantly higher spot prices are being offered to secure supplies.
Export plants mostly quote flat rate at €1.28 to €1.31/kg net. Welfare pigs average €1.32/kg. Pork Slaughterers quote from €1.32 to €1.36/kg.
Weaner prices are steady at €42 to €44 for 32 kg. Sow prices were steady at €28 to €30/cwt liveweight, or 0.85 to 0.94 per kg deadweight.
Slaughterings for the week ending February 11 were 44,504 pigs and 2,008 sows.
