United Kingdom Prices Below Europe Average
UK - At long last firmer EU pigmeat prices are starting to filter through to the British market - and so they should, as British pork is now cheaper than the European average, reports Traffic LightsThe DAPP has now fallen to its lowest level since January 2005 and is quoted at 99.75p which means that many contract base prices are also lower.
The spot market is showing a slightly firmer tone with spare pigs very much on the tight side and as a result one or two spot buyers were prepared to improve their bids by up to 2p/kg on Friday, especially at the heavier end of the weight range where pigs seem to be shortest.
