FRANCE - The French pig producing and processing cooperative Cooperl Group would create a new pig slaughter facility in western France, Lamballe (Côte d'Armor), where the company already has a production site, a statement announced.
The move was made in the wake of a 35-percent-increase in pork production and slaughtering over the last year.
Cooperl group currently has 2,600 employees and this investment will create 400 new jobs before July 2008.
The new EUR 13 million (US$16.3 million) facility, with a surface area of 12,000 square metres, is expected to be operational by April 2007.
Cooperl was founded in April 1966 in the Lamballe region.
