UK - Almost £200,000 has been pledged by the British Pig Executive(BPEX) to improve co-operation along the supply chain.
The aim of the scheme is to help develop ideas which will benefit those taking part and bring an overall improvement to the British pig industry.
A total of 11 projects have been accepted in this round of the scheme, which has been running for four years. The successful projects included developing a local branded fresh pork supply, developing locally sourced production for butchers, farm shops and packers and creating a new range of products requested by customers.
BPEX Consumer Marketing Manager Chris Lamb said: "There are some exciting projects in this tranche of the grant scheme covering a wide range of ideas."The next tranche is due to be opened later in the year so there are still opportunities for people to apply.
