CHICAGO - Flush with profits from the tens of thousands of hogs he has sold over the past three years, Wisconsin farmer Lynn Harrison should be building barns and expanding his herd.Instead, Harrison might have to content himself with buying a new tractor to replace an old one and repairing his irrigation system, because he and other U.S. hog producers are betting that not-so-good times are just around the corner.
Always cyclical, the $15 billion U.S. hog industry is starting to get worried about skyrocketing feed prices, which are putting a pinch on farmers' profits of the last few years.
