Print This Page Malta's 3rd Qtr Meat Production Drops 17%
MALTA - During the third quarter of 2006, total meat production in Malta dropped by 16.8% in comparison to the same period last year.Totaling to 3,137tonnes, the drop in production reflected developments in pig meat and broiler meat production.
The total slaughtering producer value between July and September declined by 15.0% to stand at Lm 2.3 million. Underpinning this result is an increase in the producer value of cattle slaughtered, offset by declines in other types of meat. It is worthwhile to note that subsidies received by the breeders are not included in the producer value.
