APL Appoints new Research Manager
AUSTRALIA - Australian Pork Limited, the pork industry’s national representative body, has appointed Dr. Geoffrey Annison to the position of General Manager - Research and Innovation.Dr. Annison has had extensive experience in the agricultural and food industries having held senior science and technology management positions within research providers, academia, industry organisations and the business sector in Australia and overseas.
Dr. Annison originally qualified in food technology and microbiology. He has worked in animal and human nutrition research roles, with various government organisations and in commercial companies with research, innovation and quality assurance responsibilities.
Dr Annison has also contributed to broad agrifood industry development through appointments to many committees and groups advising both Commonwealth and State governments on research, science and technology issues.
“This is an exciting move for me, and I am confident it is an auspicious one, noting we have just commenced the Chinese Year of the Pig,” Dr. Annison said.
“I am looking forward to many new challenges and experiences with APL and the Australian pig industry.
“In these drought conditions, pork producers are looking for industry reassurance and leadership in the areas of research and innovation. And I am looking forward to APL enhancing the future of Australian pork through further developing the strong technical foundations and scientific research support which already serve the industry well.”
APL Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Spencer is delighted with the new appointment and said Dr. Annison will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to APL.
“He will bring many new skills and I certainly look forward to the opportunities these new skills will bring to APL and the wider Australian pig industry community,” Mr Spencer said.
Dr. Annison will begin in his role at APL on 20 March, 2007 and will replace the former General Manager - R&I, Dr. Ian Johnsson.
