The application, construction permit and a manure management plan for Christensen Farms Midwest LLC were approved after a public hearing.

Christensen Farms plans a 6,240 swine finishing operation 3½ miles northwest of Thornton.

The plan calls for a two-building facility to be constructed on a 10-acre site.

Matt Nelson of Christensen Farms told the supervisors that the company has a purchase option on the property. He said local employees will be hired to operate the facility.
