Russia sends Commission documents on Polish meat
RUSSIA - The Russian Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) has sent its conclusions on an earlier European Commission report regarding meat supplies from Poland to the Delegation of the European Commission to Russia, a Rosselkhoznadzor representative told Interfax.Rosselkhoznadzor's said the report on the inspection of state veterinary oversight services in Poland confirms the existence of several systemic shortcomings in the operations of Polish veterinary services.
It points out that several European Commission documents do not contain information on the exports or imports of offal (CN code 0206), while the reply to the first question concerning exports and imports of pig meat (CN code 0203) and live pigs (CN code 0103) had been concrete and detailed.
"The reply to the fifth question about the existence of beef offal at customs warehouses in transit mode for CIS countries is perplexing, because the Polish veterinary inspectorate declared that there were no such warehouses in the country," the letter said.
Meanwhile, during a joint inspection Russian and European Union officials were offered to visit customs warehouses PPiH DALMOR and Poland Services that contained mainly beef liver of US origin, which, according to the warehouses' records was meant for further transportation to Moldova, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
Rosselkhoznadzor drew attention to information suggesting the times of storage of commodities at customs warehouses is incorrect and said that EU officials did not offer replies to several questions put forward by the Russian side.
Having analysed the report, and taking into account the efforts of the Polish Chief Veterinary Inspectorate to remove shortcomings and add guarantees to further advance the veterinary oversight system, Rosselkhoznadzor favours joint checks with EU experts of several facilities in Poland and measures to remove the shortcomings identified during the previous inspection.
